General Rules
Rule 1: Be kind and respectful- This goes not only to your staff and your friends, but everyone you come across while on site. Use your common sense, don’t be a dick, and do what you can do be an overall decent person. Don’t use offensive or racial slurs, obey the rules of the Discord, and don’t make inappropriate jokes or ones that might make a member fell lesser. This goes double for staff; if a staff member tells you to stop, stop. We’re here to enforce the rules, not ruin the fun.
Rule 2: Keep the drama away - We’re all here to have fun. Talking about your issues and calmly and politely explaining things is one thing, but screaming and ranting because you don’t get your way, or being obstinate or rude because you had a bad day is not okay. We are all equal here and we all deserve to be treated the same. If you have a bad day, talk to us about it, it helps. But don’t scream and shout. We’re all like family, here to help each other, but we’re also here to enjoy ourselves.
Rule 3: No spamming - This goes double for the Discord, but applies to all aspects of the board. No double posts without reason, no “bumping” threads for reason, no constantly messaging members and moderators about something that needs be looked over or a post they owe. This is just uncool and worst of all, it takes away the enjoyment of others. We all understand wanting a character or advancement accepted, we’ve all been there, but understand staff can get very busy, and we all have lives of our own. Please just be patient.
Rule 4: Let the staff do their job - I touched on this a bit, but don’t disrespect the staff members. As previously stated, we’re all here to do our job. Nobody gets treated any better for any reason, we’re all equal members. I cannot stress that enough. If you get banned, don’t whine about it, it won’t change anything. If your character or advancement is deemed unbalanced or unacceptable, fix it. Don’t come onto the Discord and complain about staff being unfair. All the members of this site are willing to help someone out with their character, and in fact we have specific sections to do so. Most importantly, if anybody is currently being disciplined or is breaking the rules in an obvious manner, don’t threaten or harass them. It is up to staff to determine. If no staff member is on, message them and see if they can help, or inform us afterwards. Unfortunately, we can’t be present at all times.
Rule 5: Originals only - No submitting canon characters, originals only. Nothing from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse Comics, or “that show you saw one time”. Keep it completely original. Failure to do so will result in a ban.
Rule 6: Ban review - Admins and select moderators have the right to ban members for breaking copywrite, cheating, or plagiarism If a member is banned for whatever reason, they must submit a written response to an administrator to get unbanned. There must be a good reason, either a mistake on our parts or true remorse. If a person is banned three times, they will be permanently IP banned.
Rule 7: Obey the rules of Proboards - Remember to keep to the terms and services of proboards. No hate speech, keep it PG-13, no using copywritten material. Don’t put us in an awkward position.
Rule 8: Have fun! - This is pretty much the most important rule for the site. We’re here to hang out, talk, and have fun, and this applies to both in and out of character. Don’t take things too seriously, don’t start arguments about pedantics, don’t flame or spam, and remember this is everyone’s hobby. Nobody wants to get mad or upset over something they do on their off-time, so just follow the rules and everything will be just fine.
Character Creation:
Rule 1: Use the required information - While we do have a few templates available for use, you can use any template you wish from any site, so long as it’s not a copyright and it has the required information. It must have name, at least a brief description, personality, and history, as well as a detailed description of powers and weaknesses.
Rule 2: Respect the story - Overall, even if you’re threading with yourself, it’s important to tell a story and stick to it. Be concise and as entertaining as possible.
Rule 3: Advancements and Edits - Any application put through for approval must wait for moderator approval before you use it in the thread. If any application is put forth for edits, make a reply to the thread detailing the changes and edits that it underwent. Failure to do so will result in immediate denial.
Rule 4: All character sheets must be looked over by at least two admins working together before an approval can be given.
Roleplay Rules:
Rule 2: Don’t powerplay - This includes god-modding and all it’s variants. We have characters sheets for a reason. Don’t meta-game, don’t god mod, stay in character. Try to stay as close as possible to the character you’re playing. And for the sake of our sanity, don’t play a character or use an advancement before it’s been accepted by staff.
Rule 3: Respect your fellow roleplayers - This should really go without saying, but don’t tell another person what their character can and cannot do. If it directly goes against any of the rules or what their characters are shown to do in their character sheets, contact a member of staff. Don’t get up in arms about it.
Rule 4: Mature content - Please, keep things PG-13 guys. Swearing is okay, but when it comes to sexual content, please fade to black or take it to PM’s. No explicit content, keep it nice guys. This isn't just us being strict about it. The Proboards ToS explicitly states this kind of thing, and they are notorious for coming down hard on people who don't comply.
Rule 5: Character Count - Here at Heroverse, we have no hard and fast rule on the amount of characters you have! Create as many characters as you feel you can handle, be that seven or seventy. Unique accounts for each character isn't required, but it is recommended. Proboards makes it easy to switch between linked accounts.
Image and Signature Rules
Rule 1: - There’s really only one rule for this, and I hope this would be common sense, but don’t put anything lewd in your profile, don’t do anything that stretches the page, and don’t use animated gifs in your signature or as your avatar. Please. Have some mercy for the people with slower internet connections.
