Mutant /Mutate guide
Mutates: Mutates on the genetic abnormality spectrum are the minority in the world, they account for a very small percent of the population of Empowereds. Mutates are born from genetic alterations after birth when the being already has a defined species. Means such as chemicals; certain types of radiation, some viruses and even experimentation have been known causes of this kind of Empowered, there are likely other means but these are the most well known.
Mutants: Mutants are the clear majority of Empowered, they easily claim 89% of the Empowered population and are fairly easy to find. Mutants are born mutants from whatever source they came from be it humanoid or otherwise. Mutant origins can be far more varied than a mutates and yet a mutate can begin a line of mutants.
Civilised: A large majority of mutants and mutates live among normal people with relative ease depending on the Country. Civilised by no means dictates all Empowered are law abiding citizens, crime is not new to Empowereds. It simply means these are the ones who choose to live among other beings in society and more or less understand the social make up.
Nomadic: Nomadic empowereds live on the outskirts of society relatively outside the letter of the law. Many tend to form their own groups as they travel around, some of those groups settle into their own camps. Of course on the other end of the spectrum there are some who go it alone in the wilds. These tend to be the more worrisome variants to police forces as they are difficult to keep track of and have their own travel networks. There are multiple documented cases of underground constructs like tunnels that aid the Nomadic Empowereds in avoiding detection.
Feral: Feral mutates and mutants are usually the product of an animal mutant or mutate living in the wild. Very much like any other part of nature they attempt to acclimate to the environment. In most cases these mutated creatures find a balance and become part of their environment, in other cases not so much. When there is a clear and present change to the local species it's an indicator some mutant feral may have invaded the area. In extreme cases there are ferals that purposely alter their environment in order to suit their needs, many of these cases need to be dealt with by empowered groups.
Lower intelligence: Sometimes a mutation has a negative effect on the intelligence of the Variant, there are a multitude of cases where mutates have lost sentience as a result of mutation. They become incapable of functioning in normal society and must be contained for everyone's safety, they are even outcast from Nomadic Variants. Normally they are quite large in size or have some other means to make up for their lack of intelligence. They can be very dangerous and are often hostile due to their former treatment.
