Though her sensations were dulled, automatic fire was a new thrill that appealed to Safiya's batte lust. It was the same excitement as when she first deployed the first hand cranked gatling gun in battle. Seeing the creature being shredded from the insides excited her, and she reveled in the the triumph of the hunt once the beast was well and truly put down. She looked over and saw the man from the hotel also make short work of the creature, albeit with a bit more hardship and conserving his munitions.
Amidst the carnage, a moment of calm fell over the desert. Cebra had the temerity to exchange pleasantries, when they had not put down the third monster. Safiya slid down her smaller boulder, moving with unnatural grace. She then replaces the clip of her carbine, showing slow and deliberate appreciation for the engineering, the ingenuity and the simplicity. "To you I am Sophia St. Croix, and I am a hunter of beasts. I am your ally... today." A pause, and a slight tilt of the head, staring at at Cebra and being overall sardonic. "Or did you wish to sit down to share coffee and pleasantries?"
Safiya looked around, searching for the third foe that had eluded them; at that moment she realized she had a new resource to aid them. "There is someone I wish to speak to though. Please keep an eye on the third beast if it returns." She looked upon the heap of the now dead abomination. With her axe she carved out one of the ... less ripe bodies... from the stitched together abomination, a young woman by the look of it. Safiya felt up the dead woman's chest, then her throat, then looked down her larynx. "Lungs... vocal cords... mostly intact, good." She raised her hand and called upon the dark invocations. A chill wind and a unnatural mist descended on the scene. What life was in the desert, soon began to wither and perish; a cactus here and there, a jackal, scorpions and snakes, all suddenly dropping dead as their essence was 'redistributed' and forced into the woman's corpse.
"Vitae, Mortis, Careo."
"Vitae, Mortis, Careo."
"Vitae, Mortis, Careo."
"Spiritus Loquento! Spiritus Loquento! SPIRITUS LOQUENTO!"
Safiya's incantation was joined by some distant otherwordly voices, voices that no technology could hear, but the living could. It was like the dead bursting from the afterlife, struggling to return. If Cebra had departed loved ones, even acquaintances, they called to him here, now.
The long dead woman's ruined body began to writhe and spasm as the life force reanimated the body. Her long dead, clouded over eyes looked at Safiya, then to Cebra, with an unnatural vigor. "AAaaaAaAAhhhHHHH~ AAAAAAAHHhh~!" It breathed in the way someone who should have drowned breathed. It screamed in a voice that no living ears should hear. It moved in ways no living thing should. It crawled and clawed on the sand, trying to drag its mutilated body towards Cebra, but Safiya's magic held her in place. She asked it one question.
"Tell me. Where you were made."
