Name: Duncan Archer Mason
Codename: Karma
Weight: 148lbs
Height: 5’7”
Age: 18
Face Claim: Tom Webb
Personality: Overconfident is probably the best way to describe Duncan. He’s wicked smart, and has no trouble with learning things…except when it comes to things that might end up making him think twice about himself.
History: The shot opened on a young woman behind a desk that said “Hero Watch” on the front. “Tonight, we have Duncan Mason, the hero going by the name “Karma”.” She stared, as the photo of Karma appeared in the corner of the screen.
“Duncan Mason was born in 2000 in Sydney Australia. Duncan’s parents, Archaeologists; we’re constantly on the move. It was on a trip to eastern Baghdad that Duncan discovered his first grimoire.” On the corner of the screen, a photo of the necronomicon from the evil dead series appeared.
Slight shouting could be heard as the report continued, “Duncan went missing for days on end, a sad event at the time; though hardly one that could be considered tragic, as Duncan did return; however, he returned with strange magical abilities no one could explain.”
Suddenly, an explosion rocked the studio as a young man and a floating book were thrown across the room. The young man stood up and wiped the blood off his lip. “Duncan, don’t you think you should greet the audience?” The book asked, but Duncan ignored him as a ten foot tall spider like creature with black and white striped legs, each easily taller than a man. “Sorry Abraham, I’m a little busy dealing with the demon we summoned. Maybe you should take over for the interview.” The book visibly brightened as it floated over to the guest chair. “Splendid idea!”
“So, where were we?” A fireball was hurled across the screen, though the robot handling the camera didn’t seem concerned; neither did the woman at the desk. “Yes, we were just about to discuss how Karma first arrived on the scene. Why don’t you tell us?” The spiders leg swung across screen, knocking over the green screen and causing more chaos, before vines started restraining it.
“Ah yes,” The book said, its eyeless face seemed to go into a dreamlike state as it recalled everything.
“Duncan was still practicing magic when he first summoned something beyond his control.” The book said. “Duncan and I were in the gym, and I was trying to show him the proper way to make a summoning circle - so that he could effectively keep whatever he wanted to keep inside, you see.” A bolt of lightning struck the spider, and it screamed; however the large amount of tiny spiders, only the size of a human hand that exploded from it; drew an accent tinted “FUCK!” From the boy, as water crashed through the studio.
When everything came back, the camera was giving off a strange glitchy sort of feed and Duncan’s face was in frame. “Long story short, shit got farked, and I took care of it, also; before this studio sues me; they should stop making their androids so lifelike and undetectable to magic. Let’s go Abe.”
Duncan dropped the camera, and left it on a frame of the host woman sparking and glitching out.
Origin: The Grimoire of Abraham the Mage is what awakened Duncan’s magical potential. An ancient magical tome written by an exceptionally powerful middle eastern mage known only as Abraham the Mage.
Powers: Magic - Duncan can use verbal speech, somatic movements, and physical components to essentially warp reality. This allows him the ability to project energy, summon otherworldly creatures, create weapons, transmute metals, create potions, and adjust ones mental state.
Weaknesses: Duncan must be able to use his hands, speak, or reach his magical reagents to cast any spell.
Specific spell weaknesses will be stated in thread.
Excessive Energy Usage is totally plausible, and will cause Duncan to quite spontaneously combust if he attempts anything too large. This is exempt with summoning, though trying to contain something too large might end up causing issues.
Concentration is key, and if Duncan is taken off guard before a spell is completed; he has to restart.
Items/Equipment: The Grimoire of the Lamb - A spellbook that is imbued with the spirit of Abraham the Mage. The spellbook acts both as a magical focus for Duncan, and a guide. Trying to lead Duncan down the correct path.
The Blade of Kamatosh - A scimitar imbued with a strange power found alongside the grimoire of the lamb. It can cut through demons, angels, and even reapers with little effort, effectively destroying them.
Weakness - Just below the hilt of the blade, is a weak point. A small, white diamond. If destroyed, the magic is destroyed with it.
Ranking: (Staff will give you this once you have been looked over.)
Minions: The Grimoire of Abraham the Mage - A spellbook that is imbued with the spirit of Abraham the Mage. The spellbook acts both as a magical focus for Duncan, and a guide. Trying to lead Duncan down the correct path.
