It was an interesting situation that Eli found himself in. He often had deals with those with strong abilities, empowered people who can crush or melt or break or slice or generally damage Eli. Although, in all his years working as an information broker and seller of empowered persons he had never encountered one who could manipulate his mind. He had heard of such a power existing, but he had never actually dealt with someone who could hypnotize him. It put him in a tricky situation, especially from a business point of view. It was a problem that he could, of course, solve, but it was choosing the right solution, or, at least, the choice that would render the most interesting outcome.
He couldn’t just have his team standby, they could by taken control of and assault Eli, though…that seemed a bit unlikely since Beholder could just blast Eli with an eye beam. Though, the threat was still there and the last thing Eli wanted was to be inflicted with Blight’s mold or to be tortured by Clockwork or Mimi, Polaroid could also teleport Eli to a large variety of different locations that would result in Eli’s death, or he could also be beat to a bloody pulp by Doppler. None of those options really appealed to him. He would need another out.
There was the option of having Doppler make a clone of him, but…that could be used against him. A hypnotized clone of Eli could create a plethora of issues. No, he couldn’t rely on a clone, he had to do something else, he had other resources he could rely on it. He wouldn’t leave himself completely open, but…perhaps…he could try an idea which he had been wanting to test out for some time. An idea in which he had been wanting to try for some time.
Reaching over to his personal phone he called up his available team, Blight, Clockwork, and Mimi. Sadly Polaroid and Doppler had taken a day off, Polaroid wanted to take a few pictures around the city, places that would make good escape locations, and Doppler was currently on a job for someone else. Eli had forgotten that, so his usual plan wouldn’t work anyways. Between the four of them, they went over the plan, discussing the details and making sure everyone was on the same page. By the end of it, Eli was pretty proud of the plan. A smirk had grown across his face at the possible outcomes which could come from it. While he did want the business, part of him wanted Beholder to use his powers and go from there. It would only make for an interesting future.
When the meeting was all said and done, two of them left the room and the other two stayed. The group that left would monitor cameras that lined the room and the remaining two would wait for Beholder to arrive. Eli spun around in his office chair as he waited, the image of Blight spinning in and out of Eli’s field of vision. He laughed slightly, bringing a hand to his mouth as he stopped his chair from spinning, but the world around him continued to twirl and distort itself. It was so fascinating to see the world in a different perspective. His guest would be arriving soon and there were deals to be made. It would all be very exciting and from what was discussed on the phone prior to making the meeting, this Beholder fellow had a pretty interesting idea.
While Eli didn’t think it would work exactly, too many factors playing a put in, he did think it was exciting and he wanted to see it through. He wanted to see how the world would change, how it would react to the actions of this man. It would all make for a good show, something that could relieve the boredom that Eli was now challenged with. Beholder would be here shortly, talking up a storm of his big plan, and then…then they’d go from there.
Eli had to make sure this guy was safe and that he could really deliver. This couldn’t just be a trust him after the first job, no, Beholder would have to earn Eli’s trust and then, only then, would he be able to be more comfortable around him. He could live close to Beholder without fear of manipulation. Plus, no one knew Eli’s information better than Eli. Even if he did do something regrettable he would at least have that, and if someone tried to take control of him, he could at least tell them that he would be more use them with access to his mind and that he could help whoever further their own goals.
Only ten minutes now and Beholder would be in Eli’s office. Eli licked his lips in anticipation, he couldn’t bare to think of a world in which he wouldn’t take a chance like this.
